Let the Games Begin

I’ve always enjoyed writing. Even as a little kid I loved writing stories, poetry and simple, everyday events. I can remember packing around my tiny journals so I could write down small drops of inspiration.

I always had my nose in a book. In fact, I can remember a time when I was grounded from reading at the dinner table. I used to stay up late into the night, frantically reading from the dim light in the hall, just so I could find out what happened to Nancy Drew, Bilbo Baggins or Harry Potter. I accredit these acts to my now inconvenient need for glasses.

Growing up I imagined myself writing masterpieces and penning great works of motivation and change. I always wanted to be considered one of the greats, someone who had something to say with the will to say it.

Over the years, other activities have crowded my love for scribbling down every word that pops into my brain and reading every book I see on a delicately decorated shelf. But I intend to reach that time again through simple posts and a reorganized priority list. I’m a firm believer in achieving your dreams and creating your own future.

So I hope this blog finds its way into your creative, yet reasonably right mind. I look forward to future connections and long conversations. Let the games begin.

Welcome to the world of blogging! I hope you stick to it better than I have… Maybe having a baby will actually be good for my blogging. And you brought up an excelent point in your post – maybe I should ground Jake from having the computer at the dinner table. :)

Hey, I googled “tyspurlock.com” and it sent me here. Do you know him?

Ashley, I like your smooth wording. There is a time and season for all. You are great.

I read both your comments and I feel like relating a story that may help illustrate the feelings of my heart. Years ago we bought Heather a nice camera and she has been a shutterbug ever since. Nick and Jake have stepped in and done their best to step up and both have some taken some amazing photos also. In the same respect, Zack has explored the arts and developed his talents in theatre, dance and singing. Josh has always been Mister Techno Gadget, everexceeding my abilities, much like his older brother Jake. Ty, Mr. Wear His Emotions on His Sleeve. Happy, magnet to all fun possible, yet willing to share his deepest thoughts and emotions at the drop of his hat. Ben is always about doing something fun and why sit here when we could be out having fun. He wants to be so much like all his older brothers. Melissa, educated, smart, caring and always a pleaser. I feel like her greatest accomplishment, like any Mom is her children, her deep love for others and devotion to what is right. And last, but not least, Ashley, how proud I am of you for your ability to put into words the thoughts of your heart. Your brief blogs truly illuminate your wonderful talent to express those deep thoughts that rest in you. And to braid these thoughts into the purpose of this writing is what I hope to explain.

As a father I see the greatest desires of my own hearts magnified in my own children and their little families. Those little desires, talents, and abilities that I wish I so desperately had are so prevelant in my own posterity. I am truly blessed and now know how my talents and abilities are magnified, they are through those people I truly love, who stand ready to help me and those souls precious to me.
    I Love You!

Please keep up with your writing, like you, it is wonderful!
